Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNO): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi on Wednesday directed officers to maintain strict vigil, strengthen security measures and ensure effective crowd management during upcoming festivals across the Valley. Chairing a security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) here, IGP Birdi, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reviewed arrangements for upcoming festivals and events, including Shab-e-Barat, Navratra, Eid-ul-Fitr and Nauroz, officials said. He emphasised the need for enhanced security arrangements to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the festivals, which usually witness large gatherings at religious places across the Kashmir Valley. The IGP directed officers to put in place effective crowd management measures to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth conduct of the events. He also instructed the officers to regulate entry and exit points at major religious places, deploy security personnel at strategic locations and coordinate with local community leaders for better management of gatherings. IGP Birdi asked the officers to step up vigilance, conduct random checks at sensitive locations and increase security patrols to prevent any untoward incidents during the festive period. Senior officers from various security agencies attended the meeting, including officials from the BSF, CRPF, CID, traffic police and other wings of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The meeting reviewed preparedness across districts and stressed coordination among different security agencies to ensure peaceful celebrations across the Valley, the officials added—(KNO)
